Ingredients:
2 boxes (14.1 oz each) refrigerated pie crusts
1 can (21 oz) apple or peach pie filling
1 tsp cinnamon (optional, for extra flavor)
2 ½ cups powdered sugar
¼ cup milk
1 egg white, beaten
Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Filling:
If using canned pie filling, you can mash the fruit slightly with a fork for easier filling. Add cinnamon if desired.
If making homemade filling, cook diced apples or peaches with sugar, cinnamon, and a little butter until soft.
2. Cut the Pie Crusts:
Roll out the refrigerated pie crusts and cut them into 4-5 inch circles using a biscuit cutter or a bowl as a guide.
3. Fill the Pies:
Place a spoonful of filling in the center of each dough circle.
Brush the edges with the beaten egg white to help seal.
Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape.
Press the edges firmly with a fork to seal.
4. Fry the Pies:
Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
Fry each pie for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
Remove and drain on paper towels.
5. Make the Glaze:
Whisk together powdered sugar and milk until smooth.
Drizzle the glaze over warm pies or dip them for extra sweetness.
6. Serve & Enjoy!
Let the pies cool slightly before eating—hot filling can be very hot!
