🍰 Cream Custard Cake

Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Cream Filling:

  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 100 g butter (soft)

For Topping:

  • Powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Make the Cake

    • Beat eggs + sugar until fluffy.
    • Add milk, oil, vanilla, then sift in flour + baking powder.
    • Pour into a greased rectangular baking pan.
    • Bake at 180°C / 350°F for 25–30 minutes until golden.
    • Let cool, then slice cake into 2 layers.
  2. Prepare the Cream

    • In a saucepan, whisk milk, sugar, cornstarch, flour, and yolks.
    • Cook on medium heat until thick.
    • Remove from heat, stir in vanilla + butter until smooth.
    • Let cool completely.
  3. Assemble

    • Spread cream evenly on the bottom cake layer.
    • Place the second cake layer on top.
    • Chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
  4. Finish

    • Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
