SOFT DINNER ROLLS


INGREDIENTS

  • 3 ½ cups (440g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) instant yeast
  • ¼ cup (50g) sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (240ml) warm milk (about 110°F / 43°C)
  • ¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg

Optional: 2 tbsp melted butter for brushing after baking


INSTRUCTIONS

  1. MAKE THE DOUGH
    Mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.
    Add egg, butter, salt, and flour. Mix until a soft dough forms.
    Knead for 8–10 minutes (or 5–6 with a mixer).

  2. FIRST RISE
    Place dough in greased bowl. Cover and let rise for 1 to 1½ hours until doubled.

  3. SHAPE THE ROLLS
    Punch down dough. Divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape into balls.
    Place on greased or lined baking tray.

  4. SECOND RISE
    Cover and let rise for 30–45 minutes until puffy.

  5. BAKE
    Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    Bake for 15–18 minutes, until golden brown.

  6. FINISH
    Brush with melted butter while warm.
