Ingredients:
For the Salisbury Steaks:
1 lb ground beef
½ cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 tbsp oil (for frying)
For the Onion Gravy:
1 tbsp butter
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 tbsp flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
Instructions:
1. Make the Patties: In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Shape into 4 oval patties.
2. Sear the Patties: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes per side until browned (they don’t have to be fully cooked). Remove and set aside.
3. Make the Gravy: In the same pan, melt butter and sauté onions until soft. Sprinkle flour over the onions, stir, and cook for 1 minute.
4. Simmer: Gradually add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir and let the gravy thicken for 2-3 minutes.
5. Finish Cooking: Return the patties to the skillet, cover, and let simmer in the gravy for about 10 minutes, or until fully cooked.
6. Serve: Spoon the onion gravy over the steaks and enjoy with mashed potatoes or rice.
