Homemade Sweetened Condensed Milk Recipe

 











Ingredients


1 cup whole milk (or heavy cream for a richer version)


1/2 cup granulated sugar


2 tablespoons unsalted butter (optional, for extra creaminess)


1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for extra flavor)



Instructions


1. Combine Ingredients:


In a small saucepan, mix the milk and sugar.




2. Simmer:


Heat over low to medium-low, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves.


Let it simmer gently (not boil) for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.


The mixture will reduce by about half and become thick and creamy.




3. Add Butter (Optional):


Once thickened, stir in butter for a smoother texture.




4. Cool and Store:


Remove from heat and let cool completely.


Stir in vanilla extract if using.


Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.





Tip: If you want a dairy-free version, use coconut milk instead of regular milk.
