HOMEMADE YELLOW CHEESE
(FIRM & SLICEABLE)
INGREDIENTS
- 4 CUPS WHOLE MILK
- 1/4 CUP BUTTER
- 1/2 CUP ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR
- 1 CUP GRATED CHEDDAR CHEESE
- 1/2 TEASPOON SALT
- 1/2 TEASPOON TURMERIC (FOR COLOR)
- 1 TABLESPOON VINEGAR OR LEMON JUICE
INSTRUCTIONS
- HEAT THE MILK IN A LARGE POT UNTIL WARM.
- MELT THE BUTTER IN A PAN.
- ADD FLOUR TO BUTTER AND STIR TO MAKE A THICK PASTE.
- GRADUALLY ADD MILK TO THE PASTE, STIR CONSTANTLY.
- ADD CHEESE, SALT & TURMERIC. STIR UNTIL SMOOTH.
- ADD VINEGAR OR LEMON JUICE. MIX UNTIL IT THICKENS.
- POUR INTO A MOLD OR CONTAINER.
- LET IT COOL. THEN REFRIGERATE FOR 4–6 HOURS.
- REMOVE FROM MOLD, SLICE & SERVE!
