HOMEMADE YELLOW CHEESE
(FIRM & SLICEABLE)


INGREDIENTS

  • 4 CUPS WHOLE MILK
  • 1/4 CUP BUTTER
  • 1/2 CUP ALL-PURPOSE FLOUR
  • 1 CUP GRATED CHEDDAR CHEESE
  • 1/2 TEASPOON SALT
  • 1/2 TEASPOON TURMERIC (FOR COLOR)
  • 1 TABLESPOON VINEGAR OR LEMON JUICE

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. HEAT THE MILK IN A LARGE POT UNTIL WARM.
  2. MELT THE BUTTER IN A PAN.
  3. ADD FLOUR TO BUTTER AND STIR TO MAKE A THICK PASTE.
  4. GRADUALLY ADD MILK TO THE PASTE, STIR CONSTANTLY.
  5. ADD CHEESE, SALT & TURMERIC. STIR UNTIL SMOOTH.
  6. ADD VINEGAR OR LEMON JUICE. MIX UNTIL IT THICKENS.
  7. POUR INTO A MOLD OR CONTAINER.
  8. LET IT COOL. THEN REFRIGERATE FOR 4–6 HOURS.
  9. REMOVE FROM MOLD, SLICE & SERVE!
