Crispy Cheese Tater Tots

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups grated potatoes (parboiled or raw and squeezed dry)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or mozzarella for extra melt)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour or breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying (or use an air fryer)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the potatoes:
    If using raw potatoes, peel, grate, and squeeze out excess water using a clean towel or cheesecloth.

  2. Mix it up:
    In a bowl, combine grated potatoes, cheese, flour (or breadcrumbs), egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until it holds together.

  3. Shape the tots:
    Scoop a tablespoon of the mixture and shape into small cylinders (tater tot shape).

  4. Cook:

    • Deep Fry: Heat oil and fry tots in batches until golden and crispy.
    • Air Fryer: Spray with oil and air fry at 200°C (400°F) for 12–15 minutes, turning halfway.
    • Oven: Bake at 220°C (425°F) for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway.
  5. Serve hot:
    Dip in ketchup, ranch, or spicy mayo for an extra kick!
