CLASSIC CORNBREAD RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk (or buttermilk)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter (or oil)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8x8-inch pan.

  2. In a bowl, mix:
    Cornmeal, Flour, Sugar, Baking Powder, and Salt.

  3. In another bowl, whisk:
    Milk, Eggs, Melted Butter, and Vanilla.

  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients.
    Stir gently until just mixed.

  5. Pour batter into the pan.
    Bake for 20–25 minutes,
    or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

  6. Cool slightly,
    cut into squares, and serve warm.
