NUTELLA-FILLED DONUTS
INGREDIENTS
FOR THE DOUGH:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- ¼ cup sugar
- ½ cup warm milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 2 eggs
- ½ teaspoon salt
FOR FRYING:
- Vegetable oil (enough for deep frying)
FOR COATING:
- ½ cup sugar (for rolling)
FOR FILLING:
- Nutella (or chocolate hazelnut spread)
INSTRUCTIONS
1. MAKE THE DOUGH:
- In a bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add sugar, eggs, melted butter, and salt. Mix well.
- Add flour slowly and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1–2 hours (until doubled).
2. SHAPE THE DONUTS:
- Punch down the dough.
- Divide into equal pieces and roll into balls.
- Place on a floured tray and let rise for 30–45 minutes.
3. FRY THE DONUTS:
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry donuts until golden brown on each side (about 1–2 minutes per side).
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
4. COAT IN SUGAR:
- Roll warm donuts in granulated sugar.
5. FILL WITH NUTELLA:
- Use a piping bag with a long tip to inject Nutella into each donut.
