Crispy fried mushrooms

 






Here's a tasty and easy recipe for Crispy Fried Mushrooms:


Ingredients:

  • 8 oz (about 225g) whole mushrooms (button or cremini), cleaned and trimmed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornmeal (for extra crunch)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prep mushrooms: Pat mushrooms dry with a paper towel. If they're large, cut them in half.

  2. Set up breading stations:

    • Bowl 1: Mix flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
    • Bowl 2: Whisk together eggs and milk.
  3. Coat mushrooms:

    • Dip each mushroom in the flour mixture.
    • Then into the egg wash.
    • Then back into the flour mixture. Press to coat well for extra crispiness.
  4. Heat oil: Pour oil into a deep skillet or pot (about 1½–2 inches deep). Heat to 350°F (175°C).

  5. Fry mushrooms: Carefully place a few mushrooms at a time in the hot oil. Fry 3–4 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding.

  6. Drain: Remove with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate.

  7. Serve hot: Great with ranch, garlic aioli, or spicy mayo.
