  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chocolate shavings (optional)

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  • In a bowl, mix graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar until well combined.
  • Press the mixture firmly into a pie dish, covering the bottom and sides evenly.
  • Bake for 8–10 minutes, then remove and let it cool completely.

2. Make the Chocolate Filling:

  • In a saucepan, whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  • Gradually add milk and cream while whisking to avoid lumps.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks.
  • Slowly add a bit of the hot mixture to the yolks while whisking (tempering).
  • Pour the yolk mixture back into the saucepan and cook for 2–3 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and add chopped chocolate, butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Stir until smooth and fully melted.

3. Assemble the Pie:

  • Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled crust.
  • Smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Cover with plastic wrap directly touching the surface to prevent a skin from forming.
  • Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until fully set.

4. Prepare the Whipped Cream:

  • In a bowl, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  • Spread or pipe the whipped cream over the chilled pie.
  • Garnish with chocolate shavings if desired.
